What Does Turnkey Actually Mean?
Built / Configured / Tested / Delivered
A lot of sim racing gear is sold as a bundle: a wheel base, some pedals and a frame in separate boxes, with the building, cabling, drivers and tuning left to you. That can be fun if you enjoy the project. Most of our customers would rather spend the time driving.
A turnkey racing simulator is the finished thing. We build the cockpit by hand in our UK workshop, fit the wheel base, pedals, seat and screens, install our software on the gaming PC and set it all up to work together before it leaves us. It arrives around 95% assembled. You attach the display, plug it in and drive, or our team installs it for you.
That is what we mean by plug and play. Not a shortcut, just the work done properly, once, by people who have built more than 1,000 simulators.
What Comes With A Complete Sim Racing Rig

A simulator is only as good as the frame it is bolted to. If the chassis moves under heavy braking or a big steering load, you feel the frame instead of the car, and the force feedback we spend so long tuning gets lost on the way to your hands.
Our Pro models are built on a zero-flex aluminium sim rig frame: the Formula Pro chassis weighs over 120kg and the GT Pro frame more than 150kg. Every frame, Sport Series included, is powder-coated aluminium, made in-house in our UK workshop to ISO 9001 standards.
We call it a commercial-grade chassis because that is the job it does. The same frames are driven daily by professional teams for driver coaching, and at events by hundreds of people who have never sat in a simulator. It is also why we can cover every frame with a Lifetime Frame Warranty.

Every simulator is built to order by hand in our UK workshop to ISO 9001 standards. The frame, seat, steering, pedals and screens go together on the bench, and the PC is configured with our software before anything is crated.
It means the fiddly part of sim racing, getting a dozen components to behave as one, is done by people who do it every day. Lead time is 6 to 8 weeks from order.

The crate arrives with the simulator around 95% assembled. You fit the display, connect the country-correct power cables we supply and switch on. The seat is set, the wheel is mapped and the force feedback is already tuned, so your first lap feels right instead of feeling like a setup job.

A few practical things we always check before a simulator ships:
- Space: the Formula Pro is 1900 x 1200 x 1050 mm and the GT Pro 1670 x 1200 x 1050 mm. A single 49" ultra-wide is the most compact screen option; triple screens and projection need more width.
- Power: a typical setup needs two separate earthed mains sockets. We supply country-correct power cables.
- Access: moving the chassis is a two-person job, so plan the route to the room.
- Fit: we build every frame in-house, so we can adjust it to suit the space you have.

Is a Cool Performance simulator really plug and play?
Yes. It arrives around 95% assembled, with the software already configured on the gaming PC. You attach the display and plug it in, with full setup instructions supplied, or choose white glove installation and our team does it for you.
What is included in a complete sim racing rig?
The cockpit and seat, a direct drive wheel base and wheel, pedals, a screen, a water-cooled Windows gaming PC and our CP-S software configuration. Country-correct power cables are supplied too.
Will a pre-built simulator flex or rattle?
It should not. Every frame is powder-coated aluminium, hand-built in-house, and the Pro models are zero-flex. The whole simulator is fitted and checked on our bench before it is crated, and the frame is covered by a Lifetime Frame Warranty.
Do you offer a sim rig installation service?
Yes. With white glove installation our team delivers the simulator to the room, installs it, optimises the setup for your space and shows you how everything works. How much space does a complete simulator need?
Less than a small desk and chair would suggest. The Formula Pro footprint is 1900 x 1200 x 1050 mm and the GT Pro 1670 x 1200 x 1050 mm, with extra width for triple screens or projection. Because frames are built in-house, we can adapt one to an awkward room.
What power supply does it need, and do you supply the right plugs?
Plan for two separate earthed mains sockets. We ship the simulator with power cables to suit the destination country, so it works wherever it is delivered.
Can I buy it without the gaming PC?
No. The PC is an essential part of the simulator, not an extra: we pre-install our software and configuration on it, which is what makes it plug and play.
Which games does it run?
Anything that runs on Windows. The built-in PC handles the big sim racing titles such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Le Mans Ultimate and F1 25, as well as VR, and any other PC game you want to install.

Can I customise or add to a turnkey simulator?

Two extras are added on request rather than in the configurator: harness tensioners that tighten as you brake, and airflow that rises with your speed. Both fit any model, so mention them when you enquire.
Do you build bespoke simulators?
